A terrified pooch was found being attacked by other stray dogs in the area. A dog lover rushed to his aid and realised she had never spotted him before – he was most likely abandoned mercilessly. She took him home and decided to foster him.

‘Max’ turned out to be a bundle of energy who loved to play fetch and run around. However, he suffered from severe separation anxiety. If left alone even for a few minutes, he would scream, bark, and howl until he saw his foster parent again. This was probably a result of being abandoned. She tried hard to find this young, energetic dog a home but Max found no takers due to his behavioural issues. Also the fact that he was an adult mixed breed Indian dog, made it even more difficult.

She tried boarding him until another solution could be worked out but he escaped and ran away! He was found and taken back but neither could the foster parent keep him or leave him back on the streets, so he was surrendered to VOSD.

They say dogs can sense when they are in a safe space; it’s like Max knew within his first few days at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital that he was finally home and safe, so he was quick to open up to his caregivers. He is such a goofball and hurricane of energy – he only wants to run and bump into people like a torpedo! And his ‘hoomans’ indulge him all the way, thus making Max one of the happiest dog at VOSD.

When dogs are thrown out of their home, they lose trust and a sense of belonging, thus leading to mental health issues such as depression, stress, anxiety and so on. We are experts in rehabilitating such canines once they are under our care – seeing them happy & healthy is all we strive for. Your support can help us save many more such abandoned pet dogs. All you need to do is contribute INR 5,000 ($63) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/ to help us cover their food & medical expenses.

If you know of any abandoned dog who has no where to go and needs rehabilitation, you can contact the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital to surrender the dog. For more information you can write to us at info@vosd.in
