A handsome pet Labrador was found abandoned near a lakeside – he had dermatitis, a hematoma on his neck, and acute tick fever. He was rescued and treated for his ailments, but a few months later he was diagnosed with epilepsy too that surfaced every three-four months.
Given his history of seizures, the poor kid underwent two failed adoptions and was retained in a boarding centre. Just when his life seemed devoid of the hope of a happy future, his rescuer surrendered him to VOSD for lifelong care. The adorable boy was quick to show us his true ‘puppy like’ Labrador energy, jumping up and down for treats and following us everywhere!
Thankfully, we have raised hundreds of dogs with chronic illnesses be it dermatitis, or neurological issues such as epilepsy. Barood has been put on medication to manage his seizures and our team will monitor his health closely.
When a dog is diagnosed with any form of illness or infection, it should not deter pet parents from finding the right treatment for them. All his health issues were easily resolvable and we wish his owners had tried harder to cure him. Discarding a pet dog on the streets is not forgivable under any circumstance.
The VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital is home to many such abandoned pooches who might have died if we hadn’t admitted them. Some of them have special needs or require lifelong medication. Will you help us meet the recurring costs for their food & treatment by donating INR 5,000 ($65) one-time or monthly? Every contribution goes directly towards the betterment of the dogs under our care: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
