GERMAN SHEPHERD WITH NEUROLOGICAL ISSUES SURRENDERED TO VOSD

A family residing in Jalandhar dearly loved their three-year-old German Shepherd named Hector. Earlier this year, they began noticing dramatic changes in his behaviour – either he would whine and cry for attention longing to be around humans, or he would lie silently in a corner almost as though he was depressed. These changes progressed over four months after which all of a sudden, Hector began having seizures. A veterinary doctor prescribed medication to manage the fits but the family knew they couldn’t provide advanced medical care for him, so they requested VOSD to take him.

Hector was a well-behaved boy through the 52-hour road and train journey from Jalandhar to our sanctuary in Bengaluru! Upon reaching the VOSD facility, he instantly took to his caregivers and was eager to meet our other dogs too. After allowing him a few days to settle in, we took Hector for his first walk which he thoroughly enjoyed. He absolutely loves running around and playing in the rain too. It might take a few more weeks before he is fully comfortable around our other dogs, but we’re optimistic he will love playing with them some day.

The gentle giant is eating both meals well, and medication for his seizures is being continued. He hasn’t had another seizure since he came to us. Though it’s too early to tell, we’re hoping that Hector is on the road to recovery and he has a long and healthy life ahead of him!
