The streets were a living hell for Honey – a quiet, submissive dog with a severe skin infection. Vicious folks hurled stones at her because they found her appearance and odour repugnant. Territorial dogs subjected her to aggression and didn’t allow her to fend for herself. Honey basically had no choice but to stay hidden from all her adversaries and only ventured out in search of food with extreme caution.
A rescuer saw the meek dog suffer extreme brutalities everyday. He gave her medicated baths and even took her to a hospital, but her stubborn skin infection persisted. Moreover, a dog like Honey would never get adopted because people tend to be ‘disgust sensitive’ and the street would still be riddled with bullying and intimidation, and the consequent struggle for food.
So, Honey came home to us at VOSD. The gentle dog took a while to unlearn her conditioned responses to threats. For example, she would always stay alert while eating because she had never before eaten in peace. She also mostly kept to herself in the beginning. We began our medical interventions soon after the shy dog warmed up to us a little bit.
Our team gives her baths with VOSD Anti Dandruff Shampoo (shop.vosd.in) and regularly apply VOSD Organic 6-in1 Dog Body Lotion to enable swift recovery. We have observed a marked improvement in Honey’s skin condition. She also greatly enjoys her daily strolls around the farm and playtime with friends.
Honey is steadily turning into a healthy, beautiful and happy dog. No one shoos her away anymore, she is welcomed everywhere; she eats her meals in peace and will continue to do so for the rest of her life.
