Could microchipping change how we care for strays in India? Comment your thoughts below.

In a first-of-its-kind move, the Delhi government has announced a plan to microchip 10 lakh stray dogs within two years. The microchips will carry each dogโ€™s vaccination and sterilisation records, creating a citywide digital database. This will allow authorities to track strays more effectively, monitor health, and ensure accountability of civic bodies handling sterilisation. Officials say the program will not only make Delhi safer but also improve animal welfare. Animal activists have welcomed the idea, calling it a step toward responsible management of street dogs. If successful, the capital will become the first Indian city to carry out such a massive microchipping project.
