A tiny pup was found with a crushed forelimb after a vehicle hit him. A dog lover who spotted ‘Chotu’ rushed him to the hospital. At the hospital it was confirmed that the limb had to be amputated since it was beyond repair. Post-recovery, the little fellow had nowhere to go. His chances of getting adopted were negligible, neither could he be released back on the street. So he was surrendered to VOSD under the ‘special needs dogs’ category.
For a few weeks after he came to us, Chotu was the typical energetic and playful pup who quickly made friends with our other tiny tots. However, when he developed an incessant cough, we knew his health had taken a turn for the worse. Further diagnosis revealed that he had a genetically acquired enlarged heart. This along with the impact of the accident had caused his lungs to weaken over time, and accumulate with fluid. Chotu was immediately started on medication. Chotu needs all your love, thoughts, and prayers for a speedy recovery!
Special needs dogs are prone to recurring illnesses, but with the help of world-class medical care and round-the-clock staff at VOSD, we are equipped to provide them a quality life. Chotu will regain his health soon and go back to being his usual perky self… playing with our other special babies such as Rajkumar, also an amputee, and the teeny Lahsun & Adrak who have deformed limbs.
