In May 2025, VOSD responded to an urgent call in Bengaluru – 23 severely malnourished and neglected dogs were found confined inside a single house, abandoned without food, medical attention, or basic care. The heartbreaking state of these animals was later covered in national media, including a feature in Deccan Herald, shedding light on this deeply disturbing case of animal hoarding.
A Crisis of Neglect, A Mission of Compassion
These dogs, many of whom were tied to windows or confined to tiny spaces, were rescued by the VOSD team after receiving a tip from concerned citizens. Our rescue team found the house crawling with ticks, the dogs emaciated, and some barely able to stand. Several pups had already succumbed to starvation. This is not just a story of neglect, it is a reminder of the ongoing crisis in urban animal welfare.

The Deccan Herald coverage helped bring nationwide attention to the case. It validated our on-ground efforts and brought in hundreds of messages of support and donations from animal lovers across the country.
