The Delhi government has issued new guidelines making it an offence to harass, threaten, or prevent people from responsibly feeding community dogs especially targeting women, senior citizens, and caregivers. The measures are part of the cityโs Street Dog Population Management rules aimed at reducing conflict between humans and stray dogs. Each ward is now required to have marked feeding spots. Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) that responsibly manage these spots may be rewarded by government authorities. Pet dogs over three months must be registered, with free sterilisation and first vaccination for those adopting Indian breeds. The move is intended to ensure safety, compliance with animal birth control laws, and harmony in communities.
