AHSI’s feeding ban has left animal lovers furious and protesting.

In Kolkata, animal lovers gathered outside the Agri-Horticulture Society of India (AHSI) after reports emerged that over a dozen community dogs on the campus were left starving. The dogs, who had been sterilised and vaccinated, were fenced in after the society installed new gates and notices barring feeders from entry. Protesters claimed the ban had cut off the dogs’ access to food and water, putting their lives at risk. Many also highlighted that the feeders had been caring for these dogs for years. Holding placards and chanting slogans, the demonstrators demanded immediate access to feed the animals and urged authorities to intervene. Activists warned that prolonged neglect could result in severe suffering and even death.
