The Delhi Police has introduced an official emblem for its K-9 Unit, to be featured on uniforms, jackets, and gear of all dog squad personnel. The Dog Squad, established in 1967 under the Crime Branch, assists in crime detection, explosive and narcotics identification and other critical operations requiring speed and precision. Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), said the emblem celebrates the elite status and dedicated service of the unit. Today, the K-9 Unit has stations at 10 locations across Delhi, including Chanakyapuri, Daryaganj, Janakpuri and more. Plans are also underway to acquire 72 more dogs, bringing their strength to 136 canine officers.
