In Peru, a courageous family dog named Manchis saved lives by chewing out the fuse of a lit stick of dynamite thrown into their courtyard. The explosive, targeting journalist Carlos Alberto Mesรญas Zรกrateโs home, was the kind used in landmines. Surveillance footage shows Manchis, a 25-pound cocker spaniel mix, rushing toward the device, biting and extinguishing the blazing fuse, preventing a disaster. Though the family was unharmed, Manchis suffered vocal cord damage and can no longer bark. A suspect has since been arrested, and the journalistโs family has requested police protection. Manchis has become a local hero, her bravery a powerful reminder of the loyalty and courage dogs offer.
