Update 27/05/2024 – We had sent our ambulance today to pick up Apple from the All Paws Hospital. But after our driver reached the location, Paras Jain (Apple’s rescuer) informed us that the Doctor did not allow release of Apple as she said Apple was not fit for travel.
We are waiting for another date for bringing Apple home to the VOSD Sanctuary. Please pray for her good health so she can come to VOSD soon!
Support Apple, the special needs dog, reach VOSD!
Thank you to all our donors, we have met our fundraising goal for Apple and are eagerly waiting for her to be sent the VOSD Sanctuary by her rescuer, Paras Jain. 🙂
Your kindness will help Apple find a permanent home at the VOSD Sanctuary
Apple is a stray dog who used to live in the IISC campus in Bangalore. In February Apple’s hind leg was injured as a bike ran over her (February 16). We got her X-ray done on the same day but unfortunately her dislocated bone from the pelvis was not detected in the scan. She was brought back to campus and doctor gave painkillers for a few days. However, under high pain she was not moving and kept lying on either side for long hours. And, within a few days Apple’s front leg elbows got highly infected by maggots. The infestation was so much that her elbow joints (bones) were exposed. Her caretaker students then took her to the All Paws in BEL road (Feb 22). There her maggots were removed and checked for her blood essentials. All blood parameters were in critical levels, so the doctor performed blood transfusion on the same day. The doctor was also skeptical about the Tick fever and the required treatment was also started. Within three weeks of blood transfusion her blood essentials again started to drop so then the doctor started steroid treatment. She has been admitted to All Paws since then (Feb 22 – current day).
After more than 50 days of admission at All Paws her blood essentials are now stable, and she is off from tick fever and steroid treatments. Her elbow wounds have also been recovering well but still it will take months to heal completely and gain strength. Her physiotherapy has to be done every day. Unfortunately, the doctor cannot do anything for her dislocated hind leg bone as it requires surgical intervention, and she is currently too weak to bear blood loss or even anaesthetics.
According to her present condition, the doctor is suggesting complete recovery in coming 3-6 months. After recovery too this dog will not be able to survive on the streets on her own and will need to be kept in a boarding or hospital. It is not feasible for those students to take care of her for life because of great care that she needs daily, expensive medical treatments and attention she requires for medication, physiotherapy, bandages replacements and food. Hence Apple needs to come home to the VOSD Sanctuary! Please help her with a small donation that will give her the right care, love and attention she do desperately needs now.
Once the surrender fees amount is raised, Apple will be immediately brought into the VOSD Sanctuary. Her caretakers have submitted her medical reports etc. which are needed for the VOSD Surrender process.
PLEASE NOTE: This fundraiser will cover the one time surrender fees at VOSD for special needs dogs – this money will cover the first few months of the dog settling into the VOSD Sanctuary. Lifelong care of the dog will be VOSD’s responsibility. VOSD Sanctuary is home to 1700 rescued dogs many of whom are special needs. It is a massive task managing the lifelong care of so many dogs who have no hope of surviving on the streets and no hope of getting adopted. Your kindness gives these dogs a second chance at life at the VOSD Sanctuary.
