When the only human who Buddha knew and trusted passed away, he was lost. For nine years all he knew was the lady’s love but now that he was orphaned, where would he go or what would happen to him? Fortunately, a neighbour took pity on the senior dog and took him home. She appealed to VOSD to admit him for he had no other family, no home, or hope of a well-cared for life.
We admitted Buddha into the VOSD Hospice for elderly dogs, without a surrender fee.
The neighbour who gave him shelter had informed us that he’s a calm and friendly dog, but dislikes being left alone. Her heart-breaking email read “If he is lonely or upset about something, he tends to bite himself”. So we had to find the perfect living arrangement for Buddha where he would have company and comfort.
Recently, we admitted two other orphaned pet dogs Patrick and Lima of a similar temperament. We felt that the trio might hit it off together so we socialised them over a few days. And as expected, they have settled in well and are happy! Our caregivers also spend time with Buddha every day to ensure he’s in good health. Since he’s above nine years of age, he will be subject to routine blood tests and overall health check-ups every few months because as they say, prevention is better than cure.
VOSD readily admits dogs who have been orphaned and have nowhere to go. We give them the promise of a family, home, and care for as long as they’re alive. You can help us provide for these angels by donating for their monthly upkeep. All you need to do is visit https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/ and make a one-time or regular donation of INR 5,000 (~$65). Be a dog’s beacon of hope for a better future!
Do you know of any orphaned dogs who have nowhere to go. They can be surrendered to VOSD Hospice. For more information you can write to us at info@vosd.in
