An adorable pet Golden Retriever named Vetri – meaning victory in Tamil – was raised with great care by his family. However, he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia recently and they were perplexed about how to care for him.
After consulting a veterinary doctor, they covered the floors of a room with anti-skid gym mats since the dog was finding it difficult to walk/stand on marble flooring. They also had to restrict Vetri’s outings since he wasn’t supposed to jump, run too fast, or climb stairs. This was no way for a 1.5-year-old dog to live – confined in a room. So the family came to the practical conclusion of surrendering Vetri to VOSD for lifelong specialised care.
The young dog was utterly confused at first upon being brought to the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital. He couldn’t understand why he was no longer with his parents but surrounded by strangers and thousands of dogs. Over time though, he began opening up to his caregivers and even found his best friend in Madhu, an abandoned Labrador… she helped bring Vetri out of his shell.
Today, the handsome boy is one of the most playful dogs in the sanctuary. His mobility and gait are unhindered since we started him on the VOSD Joint Care supplement along with a strength-gaining diet, which he will remain on for the rest of his life. He gets along famously with our other furbabies and competes with them in games of running and catching. Vetri loves playing with water too; it’s such a delight to see him enjoy his life to the fullest!
