Rocky, a resilient 4-year-old Doberman, has had a tough journey. Once owned by a local wine shop owner in Pune, Rocky was sadly neglected, left to fend for himself on the streets without proper care or feeding. Over time, this neglect led to behavioural issues, and he began chasing bikers and passersby, becoming a source of fear in the community.
Rocky’s life as a stray dog
Despite his challenging circumstances, Rocky found a friend in me. Since October 2023, I’ve been feeding him daily, trying to offer some comfort and stability in his difficult life. However, three months ago, things took a turn for the worse. Rocky’s behaviour led to an incident where a biker had a fall, and the community’s patience wore thin. The threat to his life became very real, with some people even threatening to kill him.

To save him, I made the tough decision to remove Rocky from his area and place him in paid foster care. Here, he’s been vaccinated and treated for ticks, but despite all efforts, there have been no adoption inquiries due to his behavioural issues. The cost of his care has become a burden, especially since I’m also committed to feeding and rescuing other dogs in need.
Now, Rocky has a chance for a better life. The VOSD Sanctuary, a place where he can live safely for the rest of his days, has agreed to take him in. But to make this happen, we need to raise 20,000 INR to cover his surrender fees.
