What you will learn

A senior and fragile stray pooch was spotted by a dog lover, who immediately learnt that something was wrong. The dog seemed terrified and confused. She could not identify food or water, and would lose her way often. “Mimi is at a different spot every day. Once, she had wandered off two kilometers away.” wrote the rescuer to us. “She doesn’t seem to know where she is going or what she is doing. I request you to take this poor soul in so that she has a chance to live for the rest of her life at a protected place.” was the kind lady’s plea.

The VOSD Hospice is an ideal place for elderly, infirm canines like Mimi who have no home or hope. We admit them without a surrender fee. Based on years of experience, our team has formulated the best geriatric care in India for senior and ailing dogs – including accommodation, nutrition, therapy, veterinary support and medical aid.

When Mimi came to us we were amazed at how a dog who has suffered from loss of cognitive function immediately responded to LOVE. When her caregivers carried her to the hospital for a check-up, took off her collar and fed her, she responded to it with the brightest smile ever! Though dementia has led to memory loss and impaired judgement, she is showing us every day that she wants to live to the best of her abilities and we will be with her through every step.

Old age is hard enough on people, despite having a home, the support of family, and excellent hospitals. Now you know what a stray dog who has NOTHING OR NO ONE might endure in the last years of their lives. We urge you to help us save old stray dogs and admit them in the VOSD Hospice by donating INR 5,000 (~$63) one-time or monthly for their food and medical expenses: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/. Every contribution can ensure an elderly, ailing pooch sees love and care in the last few years of their lives.
