Another reminder of why animal protection laws need to be stronger and enforced faster. May Sundroo rest in peace.

In Palm Groove, Amritsar, a stray dog named Sundroo was brutally killed by a man identified as Makhan Gujjar. Eyewitnesses reported that Sundrooโ€™s legs were tied before he was beaten with sticks, leading to his death. Gujjar, a tenant in the area, initially fled but was later arrested and released on bail by the Airport police. Following efforts by the animal welfare group Voice of Animals, an FIR was registered under Section 325 of the BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Activists alleged delayed police action, forcing them to preserve Sundrooโ€™s body for two nights before a post-mortem. The case has sparked demands for stronger enforcement of animal protection laws.
