‘AIRPORT’ WHO GOT LOST DURING LOCKDOWN IS NOW LIVING HER BEST LIFE AT VOSD

What you will learn

A stray dog used to live a quiet life near the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport in Bengaluru. A kind couple used to feed her regularly and all was well with this beautiful black dog. But things took a bizarre turn during covid-induced lockdown. Food sources became scarce and new dogs strayed into her area. There was conflict, sudden territorial fights and confusion abounded everywhere.

The little black dog became overwhelmed in this new unstable environment and strayed into HAL airport premises, which again was by no means a safe haven for a tiny stay pooch with aircrafts and cars whooshing around. Luckily, her caretakers sprang into action immediately and sought permission from defense authorities and began looking for the lost dog.

After an exhaustive search, the scared mutt was found crouched in a corner. The smart dog had managed to stay safe until then, but all the non-familiarity led to psychological wounding. She recoiled into her shell and became extremely jumpy. Evidently, the traumatic episode had caused the dog to develop an anxiety disorder thereby making her unable to live independently on the streets. Hence, she was surrendered to VOSD by the rescuers. We welcomed her to the sanctuary with open arms and christened her ‘Airport’. Click on this page to learn about our surrender categories.

This was 3.5 years ago; Airport has been living with us since then. Airport has grown to look so stately with her pitch-black fur, deep brown eyes and pointy ears. She lives on the open sprawling grounds with her other dog friends. Airport’s favorite human Vijay is just like her temperamentally – cute, shy and an embodiment of innocuous sincerity. Airport loves sitting on his lap and getting pampered.

So, our little Airport has moved on from childhood trauma because of all the positive and affirming experiences she was afforded at VOSD. Airport is perfectly happy with us – her brown eyes shine in the dark and her lovely visage blends into the night as she sleeps quietly under the stars.

Airport found a loving home, but there are several scarred little stray dogs still walking around the streets traumatised by their horrific pasts. Help us bring all of them to the safety of VOSD by donating here https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/
