What you will learn

A mixed Indian breed dog after meeting with an accident, was found suffering on the streets of Hyderabad. The helpless boy needed a safe space to recover, so a kind person took him home. He gave him an excellent environment to recoup in, lots of affection and named him ‘Idly’. However, since he already had another pet he wished to give Idly for adoption.

For two long years, he tried hard to find a suitable family but his efforts went in vain. It was growing increasingly difficult to manage both the pets at home, hence, he surrendered Idly to VOSD. Idly was prone to food allergies and stomach infections for which he needed daily medical care.

We noticed that Idly appeared malnourished though he had a healthy diet & appetite. Even if we narrowed down the cause of his symptoms to something in his diet, it may still not be clear if it is an allergy or food intolerance. Both produce similar symptoms but are caused by totally different biological mechanisms. So he is currently on a special diet and monitored daily so we can figure out his exact health issue.

In every other way, Idly has adjusted fabulously well with our team and the rest of our dogs, proving he is the sweetest and friendliest boy ever! He would have made a great companion for a family had they invested interest in adopting and caring for Idly. But, one man’s loss is our gain. We are happy that Idly who remained ‘unwanted’ for two years is now a part of his forever family at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital.

For the past decade, good wishes and generous donations have been pouring in from dog lovers and our patrons worldwide – this has enabled us to care for hundreds of neglected, abused, injured, or abandoned dogs in India. We need your continued support to save more dogs like Idly who are in desperate need of a home and medical care.

Please gift INR 5,000 ($63) one-time or monthly https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/ towards the food & medical expenses of VOSD’s canine residents so we can bring many more dogs like Idly to the safety of the VOSD Sanctuary and Hospital.
