What you will learn

Nivi and Blacky had spent most of their lives sitting inside a dark room before they saw the light of day at VOSD. The two pooches were rescued by a lady when they were mere puppies. She kept them for four years with several other dogs and cats, and they all lived inside a very small cramped room. The dogs had never been introduced to the outside world and spent all their time indoors. Moreover, due to deteriorating health the carer was finding it difficult to look after so many cats and dogs.

A thoughtful neighbour was aware of the entire situation. She deemed it fit to find another home for at least Nivi and Blacky. So she put out several adoption advertisements across channels. Unfortunately, no one volunteered to adopt the mixed Indian breed dogs; so she requested VOSD to admit them.

Their transition from a small room to our large sanctuary was most fascinating. Nivi felt a burst of energy the minute she entered her new home; she was friendly with everyone from the word go. The extroverted dog finally got space and people with whom she could socialize! Blacky on the other hand was overwhelmed – she was averse to any interactions and hid behind Nivi all the time. So, our staff introduced the duo to other dogs of similar mellow energy. By and by, Blacky relaxed a bit and began exploring the new spaces; she even started sniffing other dogs and humans. We are hopeful that like Nivi, Blacky will also become ready to embrace a much more animated world and participate wholeheartedly in the bustling life at VOSD.

The two young pooches get healthy meals, regular exercise, and engagement at VOSD. They get to see the sun and the sky; but most of all they know the love of many humans. VOSD is home to several such neglected and abused dogs, where they get conducive environment to recover from their difficult pasts.
